Spectrum Laser
The Spectrum Laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) delivers wavelength-specific pulses of energy to combat signs of aging, undesired textures, redness, and hyperpigmentation. This multifaceted device is also used for permanent hair reduction, tattoo removal, and spider vein treatment as well as fractionated and fully ablative skin resurfacing.
Some treatments are completely painless while others feel like a rubberband snaping against your skin. The Spectrum is safe and effective and can be used with most skin types. Multiple treatment sessions are often needed to achieve optimal results.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
IPL is a cosmetic skin treatment that reduces the signs of aging, pigmentation, vasculature, and acne. It uses the power of broadband light to deliver pulses of intense light into the second layer of the skin. As the light penetrates the skin it allows the cells to absorb its energy, heat up, and eventually destroy the pigmentation within the cell. This decreases age spots, rosacea, acne, wrinkles, sun-damaged skin, and pore size among other benefits.
The procedure may feel like a rubber band snapping against the skin but is well tolerated by almost all patients. While there is no downtime after an IPL treatment, it is important to protect your skin from the sun both before and after receiving IPL.
Our Spectrum 810 Diode targets the melanin in unwanted body hair using it to destroy follicles in their active growth stage. Due to their relative lack of melanin, red, blond, and grey/white hair cannot be targeted by the 810 Diode. Because all follicles are not in their active growth stage at the same time, a minimum of 6-8 sessions is needed to reduce and likely remove areas of unwanted hair.
The 810 Diode on the Spectrum laser is safe for all skin types. It also has built-in contact cooling to protect the surface of the skin, making the treatment a comfortable, pain-free experience for most patients. There is no downtime associated with laser hair reduction and depending on size each area takes sound 10-15 minutes to treat.
Permanent Hair Reduction
The 1064nm Long Pulsed YAG Laser allows your Touch of Beauty practitioner to precisely treat visible vessels, broken capillaries, spider veins, and other vascular lesions by using laser energy. The energy from the long pulsed Yag laser enters the veins causing their walls to collapse and seal shut. This eliminates the vein's appearance on the skin. However, there may be some post treatment redness and swelling.
Long Pulsed Yag
Erbium Ablative Resurfacing
Erbium:YAG laser treatments can be very successful at reducing or even eliminating conditions like acne scarring, fine lines, skin texture, and melasma. Erbium is one of the best ways to address problematic lines around the mouth and eyes and helps stimulate collagen reorganization and fibroblast activation in photoaged tissue resulting in more youthful-looking skin. This offers superior resurfacing with less discomfort, shorter healing time, and more flexibility for facial skin resurfacing than CO2.
Q-Switch Tattoo Removal
A Q switched laser precisely targets only tattoo ink or hyperpigmentation. It is the only technology able to penetrate down to the dermis and shatter tattoo ink and pigmentation (via photoacoustic waves) without causing damage to the surrounding tissue. Short high energy light pulses are absorbed by the tattoo ink or melanin causing it to heat up and break down into small particles. Those particles will then be removed by the body over time. A Q-Switch laser can effectively treat 80% of tattoo colors, pigmented lesions like age spots, freckles, sunspots and some birth marks. It is also safe for use on all Fitzpatrick skin types.
Colors that Respond well to Q-Switch: Black, Blue, Dark Blue, Dark Green, Brown, Red, Purple, and Orange.
Colors that are more difficult to treat with Q-Switch: Tan, Yellow, Bright Green, Sky Blue.

Spectrum Laser & IPL – FAQs
Versatile Laser & Light-Based Treatments with the Spectrum by Rohrer
Q: What is the Spectrum Laser/IPL device?
A: The Spectrum by Rohrer Aesthetics is a multi-platform aesthetic system that combines laser and intense pulsed light (IPL) technologies to address a wide range of skin and cosmetic concerns—all in one powerful device. It features multiple handpieces including hair removal, tattoo removal, IPL photofacials, Erbium skin resurfacing, and vascular lesion treatment.
Q: What treatments can be done with the Spectrum system?
A: The Spectrum offers multiple treatment options, including:
Laser Hair Removal (810nm diode)
IPL Photofacials for sun damage, age spots, and redness
Tattoo Removal (Q-switched YAG/KTP laser)
Vascular Reduction for spider veins and broken capillaries
Erbium YAG Skin Resurfacing for fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars
Q: Is Spectrum Laser/IPL safe for all skin types?
A: Some treatments, like IPL and the 810nm diode for hair removal, are best suited for lighter to medium skin tones (Fitzpatrick I–III). However, our trained providers evaluate each patient individually to recommend the safest and most effective treatment plan for your skin type and concern.
Q: Does laser hair removal with Spectrum hurt?
A: Most patients describe the sensation as a mild rubber band snap. The Spectrum diode laser includes a cooling tip to improve comfort and minimize skin irritation during treatment.
Q: How many sessions will I need?
A: It depends on the treatment:
Laser hair removal: Typically 6–8 sessions
IPL photofacials: 3–5 sessions for best results
Tattoo removal: Varies based on tattoo size, color, and ink depth
Skin resurfacing: Often 1–2 treatments, with occasional maintenance
Your provider will recommend a personalized schedule based on your goals and response.
Q: What is the downtime after Spectrum treatments?
A: Downtime varies:
IPL and hair removal: Little to no downtime—mild redness or warmth may occur
Tattoo removal: Redness, swelling, or blistering is possible as the skin heals
Erbium resurfacing: Expect 3–5 days of redness and light peeling for most patients
We’ll provide full aftercare instructions tailored to your treatment.
Q: When will I see results?
A: Some results—like brighter skin after an IPL photofacial—can be seen in as little as 7–10 days, while others—like tattoo fading or hair reduction—occur gradually over multiple sessions. Full skin resurfacing results typically develop over several weeks as collagen rebuilds.
Q: Is the Spectrum device FDA-cleared?
A: Yes, the Spectrum Laser/IPL system is FDA-cleared for safety and efficacy across a range of aesthetic procedures. It’s a trusted, medical-grade system used in physician-led practices nationwide.
